First (albeit lame) Give Away

GONE!

So I have this weird scald-safe invention I have no use for at all. But I hate just throwing things away. Who wants one? First commenter gets one -be sure to use your real email so I can contact you for your info and what not. Oh, and US addresses only please. I can’t afford international shipping right now.

I’ll be clearing my house of more things soon, so stay tuned for some books and more.

Cult Clothing Coming to An Interwebz Near You

Those crazy Polygamists. All that attention they recieved from their recent scandal and having their children removed from their custody shot them in the limelight. As any good marketer would do, they’ve taken this opportunity to merchandize themselves. Now you can pretend to be a psychotic Mormon freak who has their children taken away.

Sounds like kinky sex dress up time to me. “Tell me I’m your favorite wife, yeah baby!”

I Did I My Way…Before I Died

Boing Boing has pulled up a very interesting Yahoo article on the top funeral tunes in Australia. Apparently, “My Way” By Frank Sinatra is number one. Second is “Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.

Funny, I’d really like to have the Sid Vicious cover of My Way at my funeral, not because it’s a great song, but just because it seems aggressive and appropriate. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think a song about a wonderful world is really the kind of song I envision at a funeral.

Childhood Nightmares

I saw Indiana Jones last week. If you haven’t seen it already, without giving too much away, I can tell you there’s a scene with creepy, flesh-eating red ants. I hated the scene though I loved the movie. Why? Because I hate ants.

As a child, one of my worst nightmares involved hiding in a linen cupboard as a line of two-foot-tall red ants walked through my hallway with my parents and my sister on their backs. Just when I thought I was safe, the cupboard popped open and one of the ants started carrying me towards their nest.

It may sound silly now, but it was terrifying to a three year old. To this day, ants in large quantities still creep me out. I know other people have similar strange nightmares when they were children. I was wondering what kind of weird dreams you guys have had. Let me know in the comments.

Magic Mushrooms: The Next Medicinal Marijuana?

Researchers have discovered that people who “shroom” can have an increased level of happiness as much as 14 months later, more on the study. For chronically depressed people (read:me), this could be a life saver…literally. I have in fact taken them when they were legal in Amsterdam and I have to say, I do think it really helped my mood for a long while afterwards.

Pot and prozac do not do this. Nothing legal in the US does this.

Personally, I think more “drugs” should be legal, as a person should be able to do whatever they want to their body. But when it comes to something like this, where it can have major benefits for the person taking it and they don’t hurt anyone by taking it, why the hell isn’t it legal?

These Hats Are Sew Strange

I ran across this girl’s site on MySpace and I’m in love with her hats. They are so cute and playful. Although they look very Japanese street chic, they’re made by hand, right here in the USA.

If you have any requests, she’ll custom make you one for the right price. Check out Sew Strange’s website for more cute peices like this.

My obsession with Invader Zim makes me really want the cute Girr hat. Anyway, go check them out!
