Most kids fantasize about being a hero when they grow up and plenty of them even wear the costume, but few are fortunate enough to be added to the esteemed list of Growing Up Heroes photos.

Personally, I love kids books, but there are some topics that just shouldn’t be included in their subject matter. All Things Mundane took a great look at a few extreme examples to prove that just because something’s marked safe for kids to read doesn’t actually mean you’ll want to let your children anywhere near it.

There has always been something downright terrible about seeing a young girl dolled up with a spray tan, adult hair style, sexy clothing and whorish makeup. That’s what makes beauty pageants so disturbing. Photographer Susan Anderson has collected a great gallery of these images which can be viewed in brief on her website or in her book, High Glitz. If you have kids or babysit at all, this is a great idea for fun, kid food. Simply poke dried spaghetti through hot dogs and boil them together. I bet they’d be great with a variety of sauces too.

Any mini Hans or Lukes out there looking for a stylish sleeping bag they will proud to bring these over to their Star Wars sleep over party. Really, I want one too, hope they come in grown up size.

I am beyond enamoured with this concept -creating artistic plush dolls based on kids drawings. Best of all, the pieces were then sold to the parents as a fundraiser for the kid’s school. I can only pray that they have awesome fundraisers like these when I actually have children.

I don’t even like Metallica, but I officially declare these kids awesome. Thanks Yes But No But Yes.
